Horizon Motorhomes owner Nola, 65, from Geelong is a woman who travels solo on the road. Fourteen months ago she decided to purchase a ‘Banksia’ Horizon motorhome and start traveling around the country with her cat, Polly. Since then she has clocked over 21,000kms.

Nola loves the freedom of being able to choose where and when she will travel and having a motorhome makes the process of getting on the road incredibly easy. She prefers to free camp and one of her stops along the way has been the mighty Murray River.

The Murray River is one of the world’s longest navigable rivers and stretches 2,700 kilometres from the mountains of the Great Dividing Range in North Eastern Victoria to near Adelaide in South Australia. A mountain stream in its upper reaches, the river turns into a meandering river lined with magnificent forests of red gum and sandy beaches in its lower reaches. The region is home to plentiful wildlife, supporting over 350 varieties of birds, as well as many species of mammals, reptiles and fish.*

There are over twenty-three camping spots (including several free camping options) on the Murray River Reserve with outstanding fishing, swimming and boating spots and a number of picnicking spots along the way, which make it a great stop for a few weeks or even just a few hours in your ‘home away from home’.

Horizon Motorhomes offer a variety of standard & optional features that allow safe and self-contained free camping possible such as a water tank, long life battery system, shower, toilet, gas cooking and optional solar power.
